Cal Gruixut is located between the sea and the mountains, in the Baix Empordà region. The farmhouse belongs to the Vall-llobrega town, near the Gavarres Massif, and a few minutes to Palamós city centre.
Surrounded by vegetation and paths, Cal Gruixut is at the foot of the Via Verda -an accessible path that follows an ancient railway and runs between Palamós and Palafrugell-. A few kilometers away, you can enjoy Castell beach and its setting; one of the last unspoiled places at the Costa Brava, which includes the Iberian town of Castell and other areas such as Cala Estreta or the Formigues Islands.
The calm of the environment incites you to enjoy the territory and the seasonality of the land, whether in the mushroom season in autumn, looking for asparagus in winter and early spring, bathing in the sea in summer or, simply, walking and enjoying the landscape and traditions.
A few minutes by car, you can reach Calella de Palafrugell, Llafranc, Tamariu, Cap Roig… or the small towns of the so-called Empordanet. “Touched by the Tramuntana” and bathed by the sea, the charm of Empordà is unique and has inspired writers like Josep Pla, poets like Joan Maragall, painters like Salvador Dalí and Josep Maria Sert and has seduced international personalities like Truman Capote.
